DXF parameters: area, cut length and pierces
Get estimation inputs before choosing material and rates. Select multiple DXFs and compare their geometric parameters in the application and Excel.
- Dimensions, net area and contour lengths
- Pierces and recognized bend layers
- Excel table of selected parts
Three steps to move forward
- 01
Add library DXFs or upload new files.
- 02
Verify units and inspect each part's parameters.
- 03
Export the selection to Excel or continue to estimation.
Geometric parameters for decision-making
Cut length informs laser labour estimates, net area informs part weight and outer dimensions inform material consumption. These values measure different things. The parameter overview can also reveal incorrect units or unexpected contours.
Bends are estimated from recognized bend layers and common straight axes. When the file lacks that information, the bend count is unspecified. Export includes selected parts and numeric parameters for spreadsheet work.
Frequently asked questions
Does inspecting parameters use a credit?
No. A credit is used for the first successful cost estimate of the file.
What if the DXF is damaged?
Review a proposal in DXF repair or edit the drawing in the CAD editor.
