Sheet-metal STEP to DXF flat pattern online

Get an indicative DXF flat pattern from sheet-metal STEP. The calculation develops planar sections and cylindrical bends along the neutral axis using thickness and K-factor.

  • Bend allowances based on radius, thickness and K-factor
  • Contours, holes and bend lines on separate DXF layers
  • Geometry validation and subsequent editing in the CAD editor

FROM INPUT TO RESULT

Three steps to move forward

  1. 01

Open STEP/STP, choose a body and check thickness and K-factor.

  2. 02

Run analysis and review data and assumptions. Incomplete input or unsupported geometry does not use a credit.

  3. 03

Confirm the result for 1 credit. Inspect the flat pattern, edit in the CAD editor or save or export DXF.

Sheet-metal flat pattern with bend allowances

Supported parts have constant thickness, planar sections and full-width cylindrical bends. Bend allowance is angle × (inner radius + K × thickness). DXF contains closed cutting contours, holes and a separate bend layer. Curves may be approximated by polylines. For a multi-body STEP, process the selected body.

This is not a manufacturing CAM flat pattern. Freeform surfaces, stamped features, variable thickness, closed cycles, cuts through bends or overlaps may be rejected. Default K-factor 0.42 is an estimation assumption that must be checked against material and tooling. Manufacturing reliefs, bend order and springback are not automatically resolved.

Frequently asked questions

When is a credit charged?

Analysis is free. One credit is charged after review when the completed result is first unlocked. Reopening, editing, saving and exporting the same result are free; a new conversion has its own unlock.

How is bend length calculated?

Along the neutral axis using inner radius, angle, thickness and K-factor. K-factor is not a universal material constant; the default is only an estimation assumption.

Can the result be used for manufacturing?

No. Results are for estimation only, not manufacturing or machine control. STEP is marked in its filename and header; DXF also has visible text outside the contour. Manufacturing requires separate professional validation and manufacturing documentation.
